Please take a moment today to say a prayer for our veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice. We must never forget all that they have done for us. Indeed, we enjoy the freedoms we have today because of them.
As Ronald Reagan famously observed,
“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.”
Each generation must be willing to fight, and if necessary, die to protect the freedoms that many of us take for granted. There is an old saying that for those who fight for it, freedom has a special flavor the protected will never know.
In closing, today is a day that all Americans should understand that we live in a blessed Nation and to remember that the freedoms we enjoy have come at a price — a price willingly paid for by our veterans.
