As you know, the American Freedom Law Center has been heavily involved in the litigation against the City of Dearborn and its police department as a result of their attacks on the religious freedom and free speech rights of Christians. You can read more about our efforts here. Recently, we reposted a blog entry from one of our clients, David Wood, who, as a result of our litigation efforts, was allowed to exercise his constitutional rights at a Dearborn mosque during the festival. You can read that post here. More recently, however, shocking video of Christians being pelted with debris and literally stoned by Muslim “hecklers” at the 2012 Arab Festival has surfaced:
One important point to bear in mind, after AFLC Co-Founder Robert Muise successfully sued the City of Dearborn on behalf of Christian Pastor George Saieg for violating his constitutional rights at the Arab Festival (you can read more about that here), the City relinquished all policing duties to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. The officers you see in this latest video are officers from this department. Apparently, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department has a thing or two to learn about the First Amendment. Stay tuned.
