AFLC Highlighted in Left-wing “Counter-Jihad” Report

A left-wing British organization, HOPE not hate, whose mission is to “celebrate diversity,” recently released a report on the “counter-jihad” movement, to which, according to their website, “you will find the largest and most comprehensive survey of anti-Muslim and Islamophobic organisations to date.”  The American Freedom Law Center is highlighted by the report as one of the top U.S.-based organizations that “campaigns against ‘civilization jihad.'”  What’s more, AFLC Co-Founder and Senior Counsel David Yerushalmi is featured as one of the “Top dozen players” who are “central to the international anti-Muslim network” and who the organization believes “are the most important or have proved to be the most influential.”  This is what the report says about Yerushalmi:

A prominent American lawyer who co-founded the American Freedom Law Center and has acted as chief counsel for the American Freedom Defense Initiative, amongst other groups.  He has arguably done more than anyone to spread the anti-Muslim agenda at a local level in the United States. In 2011 the New York Times named Yerushalmi as “The man behind the anti-Shariah movement,” which has been enacted into law in three US states and has been introduced in over twenty other state legislatures.

Also featured in the report are AFLC Advisory Board Member Andy McCarthy (who comments upon the distinction in National Review) and AFLC clients Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer, and the American Freedom Defense Initiative.

While AFLC is not honored per se by this recognition, we do recall the old military adage: “If you’re not catching flak, you’re not over the target.”
